About

The above photo is astronaut David Scott (right), the first man to drive on the moon and the seventh to walk on the moon, and beside him is myself (left), the year is 1970 and the place is the Wright Valley, one of the three unique dry valleys in the Antarctica.

Most people don’t get the opportunity to meet inspirational people but I was lucky to get the chance to meet two astronauts and a NASA rocket scientist and have the time for a brief discussion over lunch.

The significance of this photo is that the two most unlikely people to ever meet are standing side by side in an environment as hostile as the moon. Two people who faced different challenges on their respective journeys but for a brief moment able to compare notes.

David Scott challenges are obvious, his quest out into the unknown of space and my challenges insignificant compared to his but none the less just as important to me.

My inherent skill in life is solving problems, finding solutions to problems that are usually ill defined and often proving intractable. The reason I ended up in the dry valleys of Antarctica was not because I was skilled in mountaineering or snow and ice craft, but because I was good at providing a solution to measure a glacial melt flow of this strange place with limited materials and in a tight time-frame imposed by the environment.

My latest challenge is the problem the vast majority of small to medium sized businesses have with the concept of marketing.

Like any problem that I deal with I have an array of tools and methodologies that I use to break the problem down by examining the cause and effects and different perspective that different people have and express.

I will progressively explain some of these methods and tools over time in the blog on this site, but I have developed a number of websites in regard to tackling the problem of marketing.

The main site is http://marketing-makeover.co.nz or http://marketing-makeover.com which outlines my 7 step plan that I have derived to help other business owners simplify and clarify the way to get past the mystery of marketing.

I invite you to click the link http://marketing-makeover.co.nz and see if it resonates with you. Comments are welcome but as with any online site, spam and irrelevant comments will not survive.

I also invite you to https://www.facebook.com/complete.marketing.makeover where the discussions on marketing for SMB’s is more general and targeted.

For specific marketing help, go to one of the following sites:

And I will keep this site on more general subjects that are of interest to me.
